We have decided to have the mast removed. Not only so we can replace any weak or rotted structure under it, but we will replace the wiring and lights as well when it is down.

We have decided on some interior cosmetic changes. We are going to fix the cabin side of the head wall (there's some damage at the bottom). Then put up some vinyl wall paper to make it look fresh.

We have also discussed the fact that we will have almost completely rebuilt this boat. Might not be as big and luxurious as a larger boat, but instead of having to spend lots of money on a new boat, we can invest in all the systems we would need for Nellie. Navigation system, solar panels., fridge/freezer, new VHF, depth finder, etc. Then we would be all set. I really like this idea and I think we could make it work. Stayed tuned... we will see.

We continue to work on the deck. Removing any waterlogged wood and replacing. We now have 3/4 of the top deck completely replaced, epoxied and ready for sanding, fairing and painting. Lots of sanding........

I hope to post more pictures tonight showing it all.

We have continued to remove pieces of the fiberglass and any wet wood beneath. We did finally hit dry wood! We have fiberglass down on the center area from starboard to port.

We will be putting down fiberglass on the other two sections this coming weekend (weather permitting). It feels good to be putting her back together instead of just taking her apart.

We still have to test some sections going forward around the mast to see what condition the decking is in there.

After the deck is all fiberglass, it's on to the cockpit floor, doing the same thing. And we thought the cockpit was going to be the big project! HA!

I did start sanding some of the wood rails and there is actually teak hiding in there. See the before and after pics on the photo page.

More to come as we work away......
