We have been plugging along. Adam has the fiberglass, and fairing done on both the cabin top and the cockpit. He is now priming. Then sanding, then priming, then sanding, then priming, then sanding then painting, then sanding then painting!

I have primed the border around the boat that we are painting a dark green. I have one more coat of primer and then 2 coats of paint. Then we are getting the name on the boat! Nel Vento that means "in the wind" in Italian. We call her Nellie for short. She used to be "smelly Nellie". LOL I have almost all the teak wood sanded and cleaned and oiled. I have posted a picture of the doors to the cabin - one done and one not done. What a difference! I will be posting pics of the cabin and cockpit as soon as the 2nd coat of primer is done.

I am looking forward to when the cabin is no longer a tool shed and I can clean down below. I will be painting the storage areas with a bilge paint to make them clean and bright. I will take a video of the cabin once done.

Although I don't have any new pictures to show you, we have continued our work on Nellie. The new wall has been primed with Kilz to help protect it from moisture and mildew. The new bead board panel that is going over it has been stained and is ready and waiting.

We have received a quote from the local sign shop for the name to go on the back of both sides of the boat and the "port of call" on the stern. I think it's going to look great.

Adam continues to finish all the fiberglass repairs in the cockpit. He is installing brand new cleats on the stern. Once all sanded, we are ready to prime. If the weather is good over the next two weeks we will hopefully have the stripe primed and the cabin/cockpit primed.

We have decided to paint the whole hull, since the bottom paint will be done and the stripe will be new, then it will all be new paint on the outside.

After painting, the two main things that need to be done is the steering column put back in and the mast re-wired. After that, all other projects can be done when she's back in the water. Woo hoo.

Adam has been fairing the cabin deck. It is looking great! Almost ready for primer. The cockpit floor is also almost ready for primer.

The new hatch is complete (see photos).

I have been sanding the teak on the bow and I am ready to seal it as well as the hand holds that go on the top of the deck.

I have put KILZ on the back of the bathroom wall piece that Adam rebuilt as well as on the back of the bead board we are putting on the new wall in the salon. We just need to stain the outsides of these.

I will also start sanding around the outside of the boat between the rub rail and deck as we are adding a dark green stripe (our bottom paint will be dark green as well).

It has been raining the last few days. Not much we can do. Keep checking in and I will keep you posted on our progress.
